The MR2 body has now been completely mended, and is stripped for painting.
The three major points of work, were the two rear wheel arches. not surprisingly. Both had already been worked on before, multiple times most likely - all done before my time with the car. Completely rebuilt this time around.
More annoying was the fact the front edge of the roof looked like Swiss cheese.
The car had it’s windscreen replaced, back when it was still Swiss registered. However, not everything is best quality coming from the Cantons: they didn’t seal it properly, so water got under the edge, and munched up my metal. I have this edge cut off as a souvenir back home now. After the deed:
Of course taking it apart revealed a few other minor rust spots, all mended now. The car is stripped, we agreed on the colors (will be the factory Super Red of course), and is now being shipped to the paint shop. Wish me luck. And maybe send some money, because it’ll cost me big $$$ when done .............

Awesome! Full racecar build, or putting it back together?

No, street. Also, close to factory specs, though there’ll be some corners cut.

I can only imagine, not my handywork.... but I like what the body shop did.

Nice work, seriously.
Although with rotted rear fender flares... I might have gone for sealing the fenders up without the flares, and then gone back with bolt on wider add-on composite over-fenders for the JDM mod look.
A black roof, and black wide over-fenders on a AW11 could look pretty cool.
I am sure it will look fantastic back to stock, too.

You uhh, wouldn’t know where I could find Blacktop hardware, would you?

That’s.... actually not a bad idea, seeing how expensive the repair kit was- you just cannot buy MR2 body parts or repair kits anymore, so I had to source this from a private metal press works in GB. If my car would have been any less stock, I would probably have thought about this, or at the very least wouldn’t have gone all the way rebuilding her. However, because mechanically she’s in great and stock shape, and the cockpit is great too, she’ll probably worth more this way - and TBH creating a car of monetary value was my point with this exercise.

I have the original, first gen 4gae (that would be a blue top, right?) in it, so i never looked for blacktop parts. Also, i’m in Europe. Where are you, and what do you need?

It sounds like she’ll be quite special when she’s done, which is great to hear. Kudos, and I look forward to following the progress.

I was mostly asking jokingly. The BT was only sold in Japan and it’s a stupid BT/ST only part.

I know that, or at least I knew, but maybe you had to recall it :-) However, there are a few builds around here based on BT/ST motors. Import them from japan, put in place of a blue or redtop, and voilá. It’s almost legal, and that’s usually enough to go through inspections.
